Gunmen opened fire on a large gathering of people in the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue, shortly after midnight on Sunday morning. Police have started an investigation and there is no known motive for the attack at present.
It is unclear if it is related to the unrest that recently has affected the city after the death of George Floyd who died after being arrested.
Minneapolis police say shooting occurred near Landmark’s Uptown Theatre where several bars and restaurants are located. The shooting continued along the length of a block, with windows of local businesses being shot out, a Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter posted on Twitter.
The spokesman said that the shooting started in the middle of the 2900 block of Hennepin and continued through the end of the block; windows at a shoe store and the Uptown Theatre were apparently shot out. pic.twitter.com/A5AIw2zgLi— Libor Jany (@StribJany) June 21, 2020
